Makeshift Mattress Slide

The key to successful living is to make the best of what you've got. Sure. You can sit around lamenting about what you don't have. Or you can take what you do have and turn it into something greater. For instance, we turned a simple mattress and a couch into a makeshift mattress slide slash water bottle racing ramp.

I think that's one of the beauties of being a child--you just make life into what you want it to be. You don't have to be a celebrity or have tons of money. All you need is some resourcefulness, imagination, and it never hurts to have parents who love you and are patient enough to let you make a little bit of a mess.

Crayon Markin'

Check this out! To the untrained eye, this looks like a crayon...

...but it's really an eraser.

I need erasers a lot because I'm still learning a lot of things and sometimes I make mistakes. And mistakes are one instance when erasers come in handy. Erasers help us to start over when we've made mistakes.

Despite what you may feel at times, there is no mark that is so permanent that it cannot be undone. It's true that you may have to do some serious scrubbing or involve powerful cleaning agents. Sometimes an unwanted mark is so deep that all you can do is paint over the affected area and create something new. But, with the right tools, there is no mark that cannot be undone.

So maybe that's why I like this eraser so much--it's a reminder that we can erase small mistakes, but serious mistakes require serious help to be written over. We're all learning.
